What is B.Sc Agri?
B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture is the main undergraduate degree for agricultural science in India. Its syllabus follows the ICAR Deans' Committee guidelines and covers agronomy, soil science, plant breeding and genetics, entomology, plant pathology, horticulture, agricultural economics, extension education and farm engineering.
The final year includes the Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) and experiential learning modules, where students live and work with farmers, at research stations or with agri-businesses.
How it differs from close alternatives: B.Tech Agricultural Engineering focuses on farm machinery, irrigation and processing engineering. B.Sc Horticulture, Forestry and Fisheries are separate 4-year ICAR degrees. A general B.Sc with Botany is academic, while B.Sc Agriculture is a professional, field-based degree that qualifies you for agriculture officer and agri-banking posts.
